Trial Bay – One of the only Western facing beaches in NSW….yep, watch the sunset over the ocean! Magical. Trial Bay also has naturally calm waters – great for the kiddies & a fantastic boat ramp for the fishing enthusiasts! Only 12 minute walk or 2 minute drive from our resort.
Trial Bay Gaol – Built by hand from stone, sourced from the surrounds & completed in 1886 the Gaol is steeped in history & marvel as it stands majestically on the shores of Trial Bay. Take the family & soak up some Australian history!
Smokey Cape Lighthouse – A beautiful lighthouse with so much to explore! Take in the 360 views from Smokey Cape beach all the way around to lighthouse beach! Also a great location for whale watching during the season & dolphin spotting year round! Tours available weekly & only a 10 minute drive from the resort!
National Park Walking Tracks – The Monument Hill Climb boasts history, wildlife, incredible views & a challenge! The Monument is a replica of the original which was destroyed during WWII, it marks the burial site of 4 unknown soldiers. The mountain top views are truly breathtaking and an amazing spot during whale season. Take a water bottle, binoculars & some good shoes for this uphill climb! Only 2km from the resort!
Fishing & Diving – South West rocks is one of the top 10 diving spots in Australia! Get onto the guys at Fish Rock Dive Centre for a truly awesome experience. Or if you would like to cast a line there are so many great locations all around South West Rocks for fishing! Beach fishing at Smokey Beach, jetty fishing at Back Creek – even fish straight into the Macleay!
For your holiday groceries, we have a COLES, an IGA and of course local bakers and butchers. Coles does Click and Collect or you can organise Woolworths to do “home delivery” prior to your arrival.
We have an eclectic array of home wear and dress shops in town, along with a number of pharmacies and bottle shops for those last minute purchases.
There is a Camping supplies shop in the Industrial Area for any items that you may have forgotten that are essential to your stay.
Kempsey, which is only 30 mins away has a BIGW, Bunnings, Woolworths, ALDI, COLES and many other smaller shops.
Along with The Full Circle at the Resort, South West Rocks boasts some great Café’s and restaurants: Malt & Honey is always popular with locals & tourists alike, and if you are looking for the best view in town, check out the Kiosk near the Gaol – open for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner depending on the Season. We also have delicious Thai and Chinese restaurants in town, and 3 Pizza take away options.

The Seabreeze Pub in town offers alfresco dining, and a varied menu, there is often live music on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy too.
The Rocks Country club is less than 2km from Sunshine and they provide a courtesy bus to pick up guests at the front of reception at 5.45pm every day except Sunday. They can also pick you up at a time that suits you – just give them a call!
The Riverside Tavern is in a beautiful location and they also offer a courtesy bus.
Along with the cheapest beer in town they have bowling greens, an excellent Golf Course, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Live music, with great bands offered monthly, along with a fun program of events in the School Holidays.
This boutique cinema, now under new management with movie buff Andrew Mercado, is situated in the historic School of Arts building at 1 Gregory St, near the Police Station. It was build in 1926 and screens the latest movies Thursday to Sundays (every day in School holidays)..and is licensed so you can enjoy a movie with a local red wine or beer too! What’s not to like?!
