The Macleay Valley is packed full of rivers, hinterland and great coastal villages and towns to Explore. Gladstone, only 15 mins away has an eclectic mix of shops, cafe’s and a great old pub; The Heritage Hotel.
Crescent Head is a surfing Mecca & only 40 mins drive along the banks of the Macleay & Belmore Rivers. Hat Head is also worth a visit – check out the Bowling Club for a cool beverage too.
The Hinterland of Kempsey will surprise & delight – take the drive out to Bellbrook (arguably the home of Australian Country Music, and the birthplace of Slim Dusty) or through the hills to Taylors Arm.

Only a 1 hour drive from South West Rocks, Port Macquarie is a coastal town with lots of great shops, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities! Go camel riding, visit the Port Macquarie Billabong Zoo to see Koalas up close, head up the highway to Wauchope and explore Timber Town Heritage Theme Park.
Just over an hour’s drive north of South West Rocks, Coffs Harbour boasts many fun attractions and another slice of the iconic Mid North Coast coastline. The Big Banana, check out the Jetty and Marina and the Solitary Islands Aquarium.
Bellingen is about an hour and 20 min drive from South West Rocks where you will be surprised by the quality local produce, boutique shopping and the choice of yummy cafes and eatery’s! Their Markets are fantastic
